On-Grid Solar Power System

On-grid ensures that your solar system is connected to the GRID of your local utility.

This is what most residential homes will do and you are covered even if the solar system under or over-produces with respect to your varying energy needs. What this means for you is that your utility grid is serving as your battery space.

Being grid-tied is convenient so you don't have to purchase a costly battery storage device to store any excess electricity.

Application:

  • Businesses may rely on On-Grid Solar Systems to fulfil their everyday needs.

  • Commercial and Industrial buildings

Advantages:

  • Grid-tied PV systems are more efficient and cost less than their off-grid and hybrid counterparts because they do not require batteries or other stand-alone devices.

  • Electricity has to be consumed in real time.

Application:

  • Supply of electricity in rural and remote areas

  • Provides power back up in areas with frequent power cuts

Advantages:

  • These self-sustaining systems can run independently and do not rely on the grid.

  • Grid failures and shutdown would not impact your power supply

  • They generate enough power that can be stored and used at night or when the grid is down

Off-Grid Solar Power System

Off-grid systems run independently of the grid but have batteries that can store the solar power produced by the system.

The unit typically consists of solar panels, charger, charge controller, grid box, inverter, mounting mechanism and system balance.

The panels store adequate sunlight during the day and use the excess power generated during the night.

Hybrid Solar Power System

Hybrid solar systems produce electricity in the same way as a typical grid-linked solar panel, but use separate hybrid inverters and batteries to store energy for later use.

This energy storage capacity allows most hybrid systems, similar to a UPS system, to also act as a backup power source during a blackout.

Application:

  • This Hybrid System is ideal for homeowners

  • Businesses functioning during the daytime hours benefit from this scheme.

Advantages:

  • Allows the use of accumulated solar energy at peak evening time (known as self-use or load-shifting)

  • Reduces power consumption from the grid

Application:

  • Captive power plants are typically used for energy-intensive industries where continuity and efficiency of energy supply are important, such as aluminium smelters, steel plants, chemical plants, etc.

Advantages:

  • Become autonomous, self-sufficient external energy source and power prices.

  • Higher profit on tariff margin

  • Increased savings and switch to renewable energy

Captive Solar Power System

A Captive Power Plant, also referred to as a self-producer or embedded generation, is a power generation system used and operated by an industrial or commercial electricity user for their own energy use.

Captive power plants can run off-grid or can be connected to an electric grid for the purpose of excess generation.

A Captive Solar Plant is a PV plant that has been implemented by the user for its own captive use.

Open Access System

Open Access enables heavy users with more than 1 MW of wired load to procure inexpensive electricity from the open market.

Bulk-loaded customers can benefit from the advantages of inexpensive and renewable solar power either by purchasing from the rooftop solar installation in their premises or by buying from the off-site solar farm under open access.

Open access solar power is a common power generation alternative that offers companies the ability to meet all energy needs at tariffs below the current grid tariff rate.

Application:

  • Large-scale industries and businesses with a load of more than 1 MW

Advantages:

  • For a business, the procurement of renewable energy achieves the dual purpose of making considerable savings on electricity as well as making meaningful steps towards 100% renewable energy supply.
